Years ago when I was just starting my business I had five million dollars embezzled from me. Overnight I went from having everything to basically having nothing. What I failed to realize was the contract I had entered into, the same contract I chose not to send to an attorney to review to save a few bucks, had a clause that allowed my business partner to take it and run.
I lost the money, the contact list, and I was at a crossroads. It would’ve been easy to just give up, throw in the towel, and be consumed my anger and resentment. I was scared, angry, and hurt for not seeing this ahead of time.
We grow up thinking that life is far, and it’s not. Instead of looking at myself as a victim, I chose to forgive. In doing so I was able to focus on what I needed to do to turn it all around, which is exactly what I did.
In business and in life, everything we go through leads to a better outcome down the road. When I embraced forgiveness and stopped beating myself up about what I could or should have done, everything changed.
In this second episode in my Gratitude Series, I welcome my friend and CEO, Steph Tuss for a conversation around forgiveness and how it can make or break your business.
In this episode you’ll learn:
- The power of forgiveness and what it means for your business
- How to stay focused when everything is falling down around you
- How to forgive…even when you don’t really want to
