Episode 105: Are You In A Dangerous Relationship?

Today I want to address a very serious topic that runs rampant in our society; domestic violence.  The number of individuals who are killed on a yearly basis at the hands of domestic violence is staggering.  To put it into perspective, the number of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by a current or ex male partner during that time was 11,766. That’s almost double the number of casualties lost during war.

According to an article written by Alanna Vagianos, women are much more likely to be victims of intimate partner violence with 85 percent of domestic abuse victims being women and 15 percent men.

So how do you know if you’re in a dangerous relationship?  It begins with awareness.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • Some alarming statistics around domestic violence and what it tells us about the epidemic we face on a daily basis
  • The difference between a healthy relationship and a toxic relationship and how to tell the difference between the two
  • The power of manipulation and how it slips into a relationship unnoticed
