I grew up in an environment where there was resentment about working. There was some good work ethic, there was also indignation about it. I think that comes from people not doing what they love. They’re working for the wrong reasons.
Working for survival is actually the worst reason to have to work. Part of your responsibility is to find out what you love to do in life and to never stop searching until you find it—because what else is there?
In this episode you’ll learn:
-
- The purpose of your work should be contribution, because that’s where we get our fulfillment
-
- Why you shouldn’t merely for the goal of getting to retirement
-
- Why people who make a lot of money can get bored or paranoid of losing their money (hint: because they lack contribution and service to others)
-
- “Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results”
-
- “Bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results”
-
- What James Allen said about the role of suffering in As A Man Thinketh
Being grateful for the opportunity to work is really about coming from a place of service and contribution. If your work causes you any kind of suffering, you may want to take an honest look at how you’re thinking about it.
